The fabulous Windy SR44 Blackhawk follows Windy’s 2010 launch of the chase boat – the fabled Windy SR52 Blackbird – the game-changer that set the trend for walk around, centre-helmed, open day boats.

She has had a diverse progeny:

Capitalising on Windy’s recent expertise in delivering custom tenders to some of the largest yachts in the world, she is built to the most demanding levels of construction and finish. Such ability is rare in a production builder, yet Windy can, and do – with the Windy SR44 Blackhawk embodying their typical traits of exceptional sea-keeping, long range, peerless finish and unmatched performance.

The Windy SR44 Blackhawk has an extensive list of options and a customisation program, enabling a truly unique look and feel to be achieved for this design, which blurs the distinctions between family sports boat, chase boat and supertender.

With her striking good looks, walk around decks and central console, the Windy SR44 Blackhawk shares much of the same DNA as her bigger sister. Her cockpit not only gives a garage and ample sunpad and seating areas, but also a protected on-deck galley under the shelter of her T-top, with excellent storage space and machinery access. Power is from Volvo Penta’s IPS pod drives or Volvo Penta D6/DPI outdrives, serving up 40+ knot performance and an exceptionally smooth, unflustered ride from her deep-vee profile. Windy also now offer the Windy SR44SX, with Mercury Verado V12 600HP outboard propulsion for a breath-taking 51 knot performance. Whatever the power option, with a central helm position ensuring maximum driver engagement, the Windy SR44 Blackhawk carves effortlessly through the water, providing a predictable, safe ride through broken water. Under the skin, the Windy SR44 Blackhawk is moulded using advanced Vinylester vacuum injection, for maximum strength and longevity, and her engine room is almost architectural in its clean, Scandinavian functionality.

This is a sensational boat to drive. The helm position is dead central to the console – commanding, uncluttered and directly above the keel. The anti-glare dash has all controls easily to hand and with three forward-facing bolster seats and three forward-facing pads for standing behind the fully-equipped wet-bar, this boat comfortably inhales the miles at sea. Her decks are reassuringly broad, with deep protective bulwarks and full-length handholds for safe movement on board and there are plenty of lockers set into the decks and furniture for storing kit.

Below decks, the Windy SR44 Blackhawk is very Zen. Calm, composed and fresh – with a beautifully executed, fully trimmed cabin with plenty of natural light. With a double berth forward and two singles aft, the cabin can be divided with a concealed screen, and features a useful sideboard with sink and lockers to port, and a superb heads compartment to starboard, with a separate shower stall and excellent headroom throughout.
